Hideo Hama: the legacy of a pioneer who helped develop Brazilian industry.

Few careers are as intertwined with the evolution of an industry as that of Hideo Hama. Founder of FLUXO Soluções Integradas, he led the business for over three decades and helped build a benchmark in terminals, process efficiency, instrumentation, and automation. Throughout this journey, he sought technologies capable of anticipating needs and opening new paths for the industry, leaving contributions that remain relevant to this day.
The origins of a pioneering vision
It all began in 1970 with FLUXO Instalações e Equipamentos Ltda., founded by engineer Carlos Espinheira de Sá and Hideo Hama, during a period marked by the first industrialization movements in Bahia. The initiative was born with a clear objective: to bring to the regional market the most advanced industrial instrumentation and automation available in the world. The name itself stemmed from this original vocation, as the first companies they represented operated in the control of flows of solid, liquid, and gaseous materials.
In 1989, this pioneering spirit gained new momentum when Hideo Hama founded FLUXO Serviços de Petróleo Ltda. The arrival of Sérgio Luiz de Moraes Pato, a reservoir engineer from Petrobras, broadened the company's horizons and gave it a new direction, now focused on the national market. Years later, in 2009, this increasingly integrative role was reflected in the organization's own identity, which adopted the name FLUXO Soluções Integradas and began serving other segments beyond oil and gas.
From pioneer to industry benchmark.
Hideo had a keen eye for what was emerging. From tank telemetry to maritime loading arms, different areas of work consolidated year after year. This ability to transform pioneering spirit into a consistent presence in such distinct segments is perhaps one of the most striking traits of his leadership.
“He always had a great restlessness regarding what was happening in the world and what could be applied here. He had this ability to see an opportunity before it became obvious and to believe that it was possible to make it happen,” says Stela Hama, Hideo Hama's daughter.
Those who knew Hideo know that, before any technical achievements, he stood out for the way he conducted relationships, with closeness, integrity, and a genuine interest in the people around him. This combination of technical rigor and human care helps explain why his name is remembered with such affection.
Over the years, it has established partnerships with globally renowned companies in their segments, bringing cutting-edge knowledge and solutions closer to the national market. Currently, it represents more than 30 companies in nine countries. This combination of excellence and proximity has also become part of FLUXO's culture, which values both the quality of deliverables and the people who make it all happen. Product, service, and engineering with integrated solutions form the three pillars that support this performance.
“Hideo leaves behind a memory of affection, admiration, and profound gratitude. His way of leading FLUXO, cultivating relationships, and seeking new possibilities marked generations and is part of who we are today. It is up to us to honor this trajectory, preserving the excellence, care for people, and commitment that were always present in his way of doing business,” comments Fábio André, the company's current President.
