In December 2004, Fluxo, with the support of Transpetro DTCS, made available to Transpetro a Controletron Ultrasonic Flowmeter Model 1010DV with transducers, operating with Wide Beam technology, for testing in its main pipeline, located at the Terminal de Saint Sebastian (Thebar).
The main reason for the test is the need to seek alternatives to the intrusive Ultrasonic meters in operation at the Terminal, which, given the measurement of some types of heavy oil, do not record the flow.
The Controletron model installed in Tebar is the latest generation, as it provides the user with the flow, density, viscosity, temperature, sonic speed, aeration, as well as other information that is stored in the equipment's memory for consultation and weekly monitoring of measurements. During the tests, the flow was monitored 24 hours a day, through a 4-20mA signal sent to the Tebar control room, and the Controletron meter correctly registered the flow from start to finish.
The equipment is configured to measure 18 different types of oil, coming from the most diverse Petrobras fields that produce heavy oil, such as some in the Campos Basin, Espírito Santo, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe. Since its installation, the equipment has never been inoperative, regardless of the type of oil to be measured. During the test period, product changes were verified in the Pipeline by changing the sonic velocity that is compensated by the temperature in each measurement performed by the equipment. The measurement success was achieved thanks to the technology of Wide Beam sonic transducers, patented by Controletron.
Fluxo, the exclusive representative of Controletron in Brazil, is the only supplier of non-intrusive ultrasonic meters capable of performing measurements in Petrobras pipelines with high viscosity oils, which has already been certified by DTSUL, and now proven by DTCS.
