Scana is the new partner for remote control of vessel valves

Per Paloma Melo

Fluxo is once again offering to the offshore market remote valve control systems, called Remocons (remote control systems), for the hulls of FPSO-type vessels, bulk carriers, drilling ships, as well as other types of vessels that need hydraulic valve systems and pneumatics, actuated from a distance, for the control of cargo and ballast tanks. The new partner and manufacturer of the systems is Norwegian Scana Skarpenord AS.

Scana Skarpenord AS is part of the INCUS Group, a leader in the development and manufacture of integrated propulsion systems, with activities also in steel production, among others in the oil & gas and marine segment, including mooring and offloading systems. The Norwegian INCUS Group has subsidiaries in Sweden, China, South Korea, USA, Brazil and Singapore. Scana Skarpenord has been in the market since 1970 and is one of the world's leading manufacturers of remote valve control systems, present on more than 2 thousand ships and platforms. In Brazil, it supplied Transpetro through the Atlântico Sul and Promar Shipyards, as well as to Metalnave, through the Itajaí Shipyard, in addition to several ships that are operating for Transpetro.

Fluxo also has great experience in this segment. Together with its previous partner, also a Scandinavian company, it has already supplied Remocons for 7 FPSOs and 16 drilling ships. Under the agreement established with Scana, Fluxo will have to take care of complementary services to the supply of equipment, as well as after-sales services. For this, Fluxo's specialists must be specifically trained by Scana.

Invited by the National Organization of the Petroleum Industry (Onip), Fluxo is developing a nationalization program for this system. “We were one of 30 approved among 400 companies to proceed with this project, in which Scana contributes the technology, and Fluxo is responsible for increasing national content, through the supply of local components and services”, explains Hideo Hama, Fluxo president .
