Automind integrates Manati to San Francisco

Automind was contracted by the companies GDK, Optimized Process Design (OPD), Emerson Process Management and Queiroz Galvão (QG) to carry out the automation projects for the Manati Maritime Platform and the São Francisco do Conde Gas Treatment Plant, the of San Francisco (ESF).

In the scope of Automind's contract with GDK, there are services for integrating the automation of the HMI in Manati with the On-site and Off-site of the ESF, including the configuration of the SIS-CLP and Delta V, with Foundation Fieldbus , and the communication of the latter with the PLC of the interlocking and safety system and with the PLCs of the auxiliary systems, such as the CCM, air compressors, air dryers, emergency generator, fire fighting system and other equipment such as flow computer, measuring station and leak detection system, in addition to training engineers and operators, field tests and assistance to the operation.

In the case of the contract with OPD, responsible for supplying the ESF On-site and the entire Automation System, Automind's scope includes automation services, including functional specification, Delta V configuration, with Foundation Fieldbus, tests field and operation assistance.

Emerson, responsible for supplying the DELTA V panels with Foundation Fieldbus on the Manati Platform, contracted Automind to carry out the services for configuring the DCS and integrating it with the PLC of the interlocking and safety system and with the PLCs of the auxiliary systems , such as air compressors, emergency generator, firefighting system and other equipment such as a flow computer, interface box and microturbine, in addition to commissioning assistance and field tests.

The scope of the QG contract includes the training of engineers and operators of the Manati Platform, as well as assistance services for commissioning and field tests related to the equipment necessary to comply with the Production Assurance Plan (PGP), as requested by Petrobras , aiming to anticipate the production of two of the seven existing wells.

The ESF has the capacity to process 6 million m³ per day of natural gas and 250 m³ per day of associated liquid. The natural gas will be extracted at the Manati Platform and will be transported to the ESF by a 24” gas pipeline, with an approximate length of 117 km. The maximum flow of 6 million m³ per day of natural gas should be reached by the year 2009.

The Manati Platform is positioned 10 km from the coast of the municipality of Cairu, at a depth of 35 meters of water depth, where the gas from seven wells located nearby will flow. This is the first Off-shore platform built and installed in Bahia, which will operate unassisted, that is, with the Man-Machine Interface - HMI remotely installed in the ESF control room.

The Manati Project will make a great contribution to the energy matrix of the State of Bahia, as it should double the production of natural gas in the State, which will increase from 6 to 12 million m³ per day by the year 2009.

Automind is the company that integrates the Manati Platform and ESF automation projects, projects that contain a high level of systems integration, meeting an operating philosophy desired by all process operators, that is, the possibility of operate all systems from a single operating window.

This supply corresponds to the first Delta V system applied on submarine platforms in Brazil. In this case, integrating the platform with the gas treatment plant.
