Cattalini Automates Terminal with Flow Solution
In search of cutting-edge technology, safety in its operations and real-time monitoring, Cattalini Terminais Marítimos, located in Paranaguá-PR, is implementing a complete Telemetry System for its tank park, in addition to a robust Motorized Valves (STVM) for pier loading lines. The supply comprises a complete automation solution, made up of equipment from the Swedish manufacturer Saab Rosemount and the American Rotork Controls Inc.. The contract, signed in July of this year between Cattalini and Fluxo, started the implementation of the systems.
To make up the Telemetry System, Saab model REX radar level transmitters will be installed in all 50 tanks of Terminal I, which has a total storage capacity of 186,000 m³. In conjunction with pressure transmitters, thermometer strips and interface sensors, the TankMaster software will provide terminal supervision and inventory control of all tanks, with movement histories, alarms, reports, etc.
The STVM, in turn, made up of motorized valves with Rotork's IQ intelligent actuators, will be installed in the 08 loading lines of Cattalini's private pier. The robustness of Rotork electric actuators will ensure the safety and reliability required for this critical application. In addition, the automation system will allow continuous monitoring of the variables involved, in addition to personalized and detailed reports of each load, allowing a complete history of any local or remote intervention, as well as torque curves applied to the valves, percentage of opening, alarms , and the rest of the field instrumentation.
Cattalini currently has 85 storage tanks divided into two interconnected terminals, 21 of which have just been installed. The company's structure has the capacity to receive around 279 thousand m³ of liquids. Of this total, 186 thousand m³ are destined for flammable products. The remaining space serves non-flammable exporters. The company prepared itself for the expansion of alcohol production, but still focuses on the storage of soy oil. Cattalini currently accounts for 30% of Brazilian vegetable oil exports.
With the 50% expansion of the loading capacity, it will be possible to pump four million liters of product per hour to the ships. The installation of the largest alcohol storage and loading complex in Brazil in Paranaguá is related to the concentration of sugarcane plantations and mills in the South and Southeast regions.
