UPGN of Itaboraí will measure Natural and Condensed Gas with FLUXO's EMEDs

At the end of last year, after two and a half years of signing the contract, FLUXO closed an agreement with Kerui-Método to finally carry out the delivery of the Natural Gas and Natural Gas Condensed Measurement Systems to the Gas Processing Unit Natural (UPGN) of Polo GasLub Itaboraí, old Comperj.

“After several interruptions, we understand that the progress of the negotiations was a great victory”, celebrates Daniel Barros, Director of Operations at FLUXO. This negotiation was also very important for Petrobras, which was active throughout the process.

FLUXO delivered two Natural Gas EMEDs, which together are capable of measuring more than 15 million Nm³/day, and in 2021 two more Natural Gas Condensate EMEDs, capable of measuring more than 3 million m³/day. Petrobras opted for the traditional orifice plate for measuring natural gas and for intrusive ultrasonic flow meters for measuring condensate. The great challenge of this project was to have a low pressure drop to maintain the characteristics of the fluids during measurements.

The EMEDs will be installed at the entrance of the Natural Gas Processing Unit, as required by the ANP. Its main function is to add up the amount of product that arrives at the UPGN so that Petrobras is able to pay the royalties to the Union, which are calculated based on the production values of the fields per month.

Petrobras plans to start the operation of the UPGN in Itaboraí by the end of the first half of 2022, when the two EMEDS will also be started. The venture will enable the increase in oil production in the pre-salt fields and the monetization of natural gas that is already being negotiated by the state-owned company.
