Ultracargo automates Fluxo's rail loading system with skids

Per Fábio André

Located at an important fuel gateway in Brazil, Ultracargo's terminal in Itaqui, Maranhão, now has a modern loading and unloading automation system designed and manufactured by Fluxo Soluções Integradas.

Altogether, there are 72 measuring points for loading pre-assembled wagons in skidded modules for the terminal's new rail diversion.

The strategy for contracting ski-data modules was defined by Ultracargo engineering, with the objective of linking the responsibility for the performance of the set to a single supplier, a specialist in loading automation, avoiding gaps interface, in addition to minimizing the risk of delays due to field assembly. Thus, the measuring skids were manufactured inside Fluxo's facilities, without interfering with the field work of the construction of the platforms and railway diversion, which followed in parallel.

As an expert on the subject and focused on performance, Fluxo has selected the best world-class equipment for measurement and control: Faure Herman helical turbine flowmeters, Rotork electric actuators, OCV digital control valves and Fusion4 pre-determinants.

Helical turbine flowmeters are common in fiscal metering stations on production platforms due to their robustness and accuracy. When selecting them for application on the loading skids, Ultracargo has the state of the art in liquid flow measurement.

In addition to the rail loading systems, Fluxo also provided, in this expansion, road fuel unloading skids, with Coriolis meters to control the quantity and monitor the quality of the unloaded product.
