MPM: new represented for multiphase measurement
As of early 2009, Fluxo started to represent MPM (Multiphase Meters) in Brazil, a Norwegian company that manufactures multiphase and wet gas flow meters. Multiphase meters can be used in production monitoring, well testing, allocation and process control. They were developed by MPM with technical and financial support from six companies: ENI, ConocoPhilips, Hydro, Shell, Statoil and Total.
The great differential of the MPM is in the fact that the meter works correctly, regardless of the flow regime conditions and the fluid being multiphase or wet gas. The MPM meter performs a flow tomography with patented 3D Broadband™ technology, forming hundreds of three-dimensional images of the flow per second and changing its multiphase flow configuration to wet gas automatically, unlike all competitors that need to do this reconfiguration. manually.
These gauges can be installed on the topside of a platform or in subsea applications, as they are designed to withstand pressures up to 1,035 bar, temperatures up to 250°C and water depths up to 3,500 meters.
In the development of this equipment, the use of electronic components with high MTBF was prioritized in relation to vibrations and impacts. The meter is designed to withstand the harsh conditions to which it is subjected, both in topside and subsea applications. Just a year and a half after the launch of this meter, MPM already has an installed base of more than 30 units in different applications in Norway, England, Oman, Tunisia, Denmark, USA, Australia and Libya.
At the end of last year, Petrobras carried out, together with StatoilHydro, different tests at the Atalaia test site, subjecting the meter to different flow conditions and fluid composition from 30 to 95% of gas and 7 to 85% of water, where excellent results were obtained.
