Metco will inspect the Bolivia – Brazil pipeline

Fluxo, known for having great partners in the supply of automation equipment, now has strong support in the provision of services. Newly represented is Metco, a division of Emerson Process Management that specializes in fluid metering management services. The new partnership is already bearing fruit: Fluxo - Metco will provide inspection services at the measurement facilities at the natural gas delivery points on the Brazilian side of the Gasbol (Gasoduto Bolivia Brasil).

The Gasbol, which began to be built in 1997 and went into operation two years later, has 3,150 km, of which 2,593 km are in Brazilian territory. It starts at the Natural Gas Processing Unit in Rio Grande, Bolivia, and ends in Porto Alegre, cutting through the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, and passing through about four thousand properties located in 137 municipalities.

Engineer Carlos Eduardo Barateiro, commercial manager of the Metco Division, stated that this is the most important gas pipeline in operation in Brazil, and the largest in South America: “the pipeline starts with 32'' and ends with 16'', with potential flow of 30 million m³/d, figures that express the importance of the work that Metco will carry out in a period of 300 days”, he explains.

Metco in Brazil

Since 1976, Metco has been carrying out measurement management work for the largest international oilfield operating companies. The company has the largest number of certified measurement technicians in Brazil, in addition to qualified consultants in manufacturers and metrological entities, accumulating full knowledge of the regulations and requirements of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). It also offers local support in Brazil and abroad and has experience in risk outsourcing.

Metco uses the concept of Total Metering Management (TMM) which implies the total management of assets - people, systems, equipment and procedures - aimed at optimizing the functional and metrological performance of qualitative and quantitative measurements.

In Brazil, Metco was responsible for the adaptation of all platforms in the Marlim production field (60% of UNBC production) and performs the measurement management services for this Petrobras asset.
