Flow and Emerson: control valves for Mussels

Emerson Process Management, through its Fisher control valves division, supplied a package with around 60 control valves for the automation of the new gas platform that will be installed in the Santos Basin, in the Mexilhão field.
The supply includes high- and low-pressure globe valves, special butterfly valves, and globe valves built with metal alloys such as super duplex, a Fisher specialty for Petrobras' seawater control platform projects. Valves are equipped with Fisher DVC6000 Foundation Fieldbus smart positioners.

The Mexilhão Field was discovered in April 2001, through well 1-BRSA-38-SPS (1-SPS-33). It is located on the continental shelf of the State of São Paulo, in the Santos Basin, at a water depth of 320m to 550m, at a distance of about 137m from the coast of Ilha Bela. The Mexilhão fixed platform is expected to start extracting gas in 2009.
