Flow and Capstone bring microturbines to Brazil

Per Mark Hama

Fluxo now represents, for the Brazilian market, the Californian Capstone Turbine Corporation, world leader in the manufacture of turbogenerators using low-emission micro turbines, and the first company to launch commercially viable microturbines for power generation.

Capstone Turbine has supplied more than four thousand microturbines around the world. They are manufactured in three different models, with generation capacities of 30Kw, 60Kw, or 65Kw of energy, and can operate with a wide variety of liquid or gaseous fuels, such as natural gas, biogas, flare gas, diesel, propane, kerosene, among others. Capstone is in the final stages of development of the 200Kw microturbine, which will be available for sale by the end of 2008.

Very useful in applications such as offshore platforms, pipelines, hospitals, shopping centers and supermarkets, Capstone's microturbines already work in the country on the uninhabited platforms of Manati and Peroá. In addition, Capstone has supplied a number of microturbine turbogenerators for the Urucú-Manaus pipeline and the Gascav pipeline.

The distribution contract signed with Fluxo includes, in addition to the sale of equipment, after-sales technical assistance and support carried out by engineers from Fluxo's services division, trained by the manufacturer.

Clean Technology

Capstone Turbine is now the world's leading manufacturer of clean technology microturbine power systems. The company is part of the US Environmental Protection Agency's combined heat and power partnership, committed to increasing the efficiency of energy infrastructure and reducing emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. A Latin Union (UL) ISO 9001:2000 certified company, Capstone Turbine is headquartered in the Los Angeles area with service and/or sales centers in New York, Mexico City, Milan, Nottingham, Shanghai and Tokyo.
