Dow repairs its metal/metal ball valves in Brazil
Dow's TDI plant in Bahia had four of its valves from Valvtechnologies fully restored. The service was 100% performed within the national territory, by the Fluxo services team in partnership with Autosiste, from Curitiba.
The service comprised the removal of the "Tungsten Carbide" (TC) coating from the spheres, and the application of a new TC coating, in addition to lapping the sphere with the seat, painting, assembling the components and leak testing. The method used was the "Rocket Applied Metallic" (RAM), which consists of hardening the surface of the internals and guarantees greater resistance against the abrasion suffered by valves installed in applications that work with very abrasive fluids, as is the case with Dow. The service issues a one-year factory warranty on all repaired components.
José Hamilton Santos, instrumentation specialist at Dow, is very satisfied with the service provided by Fluxo, and with the savings it will provide the company: "repairs carried out in Brazil prevent valves from being sent to the VTI factory abroad , which represents a huge time saving and cost reduction for us", says the expert.
