Esso: state-of-the-art technology in terminal automation
The fuel supply in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and Campinas carried out by Esso do Brasil comes from the terminals of Campos Elíseos, Paulínia and Betim, located very close to these centers. The three terminals together carry around 400 auto-tanks daily, forcing Esso to constantly search for an automation system that could offer both state-of-the-art technology and reliability.
Esso's choice for the new automation system was DANTAS software (Daniel Terminal Automation System for QNX), used to manage the distribution of products in a terminal. In any storage area where products are received and delivered, DANTAS can be used, namely: loading of trucks, trains, ships, pipelines and weighing systems (scales).
Widely used by Esso in Latin American countries, such as Chile and Colombia, or even in its previous MD4 version, as in Argentina, the DANTAS system proved to be the best choice for the automation of fuel distribution terminals, thanks to its breadth of functions, its easy parameterization for different locations and types of operation, its low cost and need for maintenance and, above all, its availability/reliability.
The operation of the software is based on Danload 6000 electronic presets to control the loading of basic products and additive products on the auto-tank loading platforms. DANTAS allows the monitoring of loading operations and has an interface with tank measuring equipment, with card reader HMIs, with road scales and with PLCs to control access to the terminals. An interface between DANTAS and Esso's corporate system is also planned, allowing the printing of invoices automatically after the end of each operation on the auto-tank platform, which means an automation of 100% for operations with auto-tanks.
DANTAS software and Danload 6000 electronic presets are part of Fluxo's "Terminal Automation" package, based on Emerson technology.
