Flow supplies CheckPoint sodium hypochlorite injection system to Equinor

Per Rafael Amarante

Sodium hypochlorite is widely used on oil platforms to control microbiological growth and prevent corrosion in production lines. Among the various types of pumps used for this purpose, CheckPoint piston pumps stand out for their efficiency, precision and reliability.

In April 2024, Equinor completed the purchase of a complete skid for the injection of this chemical into the FPSO Peregrino. The system includes a stainless steel and hastelloy model 1500 pump, capable of injecting up to 100 liters per hour, as well as valves, a burette, a 475-liter tank and a polyethylene and PVC containment basin. All the equipment will be manufactured and tested in just seven weeks, an exceptionally short timeframe for such a complete system.

The decision to opt for the CheckPoint system was influenced by its complete solution with a fast turnaround time, allowing the skid to be ready for immediate use as soon as it arrives on the platform. CheckPoint is one of the few companies in the market capable of supplying everything from a simple injection pump to a complete system in a short time frame, at competitive prices.

The supply reaffirms CheckPoint’s position as a market leader in pumps and solutions for chemical injection on offshore platforms. The solution not only ensures the protection of production lines against corrosion and biofouling, but also contributes to the continuity and safety of Equinor’s operations.
