Santos Brasil transforms its Itaqui terminals and revolutionizes fuel movement in Maranhão

Per Fábio André Alves

The strategic partnership between FLUXO, a specialist in fuel handling solutions, and the renowned Santos Brasil, resulted in the significant transformation of Santos Brasil's three terminals in Itaqui, called TGL01, TGL03 and TL02, through the modernization and expansion of existing facilities, as well as the construction of new infrastructure.

The initiative included the adaptation of 20 new tanks in the TGL01 and TGL03 terminals, in addition to the addition of another 12 new tanks in TL02. The combined Brownfield and Greenfield approach has enabled not only modernization but also the expansion of operational capabilities.

Santos Brasil's focus was to optimize the movement of fuels, crucial for regional economic growth and to guarantee energy security.

New rail loading platforms were implemented at TGL01, along with the renovation of existing ones. Santos Brasil also significantly expanded the capacity and operational efficiency of its terminals, through the road loading systems implemented in the TGL01 and TGL02 terminals.

Additionally, a double Coriolis unloading skid was also installed to optimize the unloading process. Using advanced technology, the system guarantees precision in the measurement and continuous monitoring of quality parameters during unloading, and allows interlocking in case of deviations from reference values.

Contribution from FLUXO

FLUXO played a crucial role in providing skid-mounted road and rail loading systems for the new facilities, as well as equipment for the existing platforms. The integration of road unloading skids and the tank telemetry system stood out for providing a complete and integrated solution, meeting the terminal's high operational and safety demands.

The investment in this project reflects Santos Brasil's commitment to improving its operational capacity and efficiency. The focus on modernizing and expanding existing facilities, as well as adding new infrastructure, highlights the company's vision to be at the forefront of the fuel movement sector.

This partnership reinforces FLUXO's commitment to boosting efficiency and innovation in the fuel handling sector, contributing significantly to the development and improvement of energy infrastructure in the region. Santos Brasil and FLUXO celebrate the success of this collaboration, which promises lasting impacts on the logistics scenario in Maranhão.
