Turbine Type Meter

Guardsman Turbine Type Meter
Manufacturing: Guidant Measurement, Smith Meter® brand
The Guardsman Turbine Meter is a robust, accurate, and durable solution for liquid measurement applications at loading terminals and distribution bases. Its construction combines a stainless steel body and carbon steel flanges, with horizontal or vertical mounting options. Guardsman meters ensure reliable performance even with fluids with low lubricity or temperature variations.
How it works
The meter's rotor is driven directly by the product flow. A fixed stator stabilizes the fluid and improves linearity, while the magnetic sensor, the pick-up coil, detects rotation and converts it into electrical pulses. These pulses are transmitted to automation systems or presets for accurate and reliable measurement of the transferred volume.
applications
- Loading of liquid fuels at road, rail or sea terminals
- Tax measurement in custody transfer applications
- Operations with low or medium viscosity liquids
Technical Specifications
- Available models: LSJ-H and LSJ-V in sizes 1" to 4", with horizontal or vertical mounting, depending on the application
- Connections: Flanges with Type RF face and ASME B16.5, Class 150 and 300 finish
- Maximum working pressure: 285 psi for Class 150 and 740 psi for Class 300 #
- Temperature range: -29°C to 107°C when using the pickup coil only and up to 70°C when using the pickup coil and preamplifier or AccuLERT
- Precision:
- Repeatability of +/- 0.02%
- Linearity of +/- 0.15% for 3” and 4” meters
- Linearity of +/- 0.25% for 2” meter
- Option with 1 or 2 Pick-up and Pre-Amplifier
Advantages of the Guardsman Meter
- High accuracy and repeatability: ideal for custody applications

Sentry Turbine Meter
Manufacturing: Guidant Measurement, Smith Meter® brand
The Sentry Turbine Meter is a robust liquid flow measurement solution, ideal for applications requiring high accuracy and reliability in custody transfer and fiscal measurement. Available in sizes ranging from 4" to 24", it is a versatile and long-lasting flow meter designed for demanding industrial environments.
How it works
The Sentry meter operates with a rotor driven by the product flow. The rotor's rotation is monitored by a magnetic sensor, the pick-up coil, which converts the movement into electrical pulses. These pulses are transmitted to automation systems or presets for accurate and reliable measurement of the transferred volume. The meter's design includes stators that are inspected to ensure the vane holes are open and the interior is clean. For optimal performance, the stators should be positioned approximately 45° apart, which improves meter accuracy.
applications
- Loading and unloading of high volumes at terminals
- Pipeline systems, fiscal measurement and custody transfer
- Flow control in refineries and petrochemical facilities
- Industrial environments requiring high durability and metrological stability
Technical specifications
- Available models: 4" to 24"
- Connections: Flanges with Type RF face and ASME B16.5, Class 150, 300, 600 and 900# finish
- Maximum working pressure: 275 psi for Class 150#; 720 psi for Class 300# and 1,440 psi for Class 600#
- Temperature range: -29°C to 70°C when using the pick-up coil and preamplifier or -29°C to 107°C for a meter with a carbon steel body
- Temperature range: -29°C to 70°C using the pick-up coil and pre-amplifier or -46°C to 107°C for meter with stainless steel body
- Precision:
- Repeatability of +/- 0.02%
- Linearity of +/- 0.15% in the normal flow range
- Linearity of +/- 0.10% in the flow range of 5:1
- Linearity of +/- 0.07% in the 5:1 flow range
- Options: with 1 or 2 Pick-up and Pre-Amplifier and Bidirectional
Advantages of the Sentry Meter
- Efficient maintenance: The meter design allows removal and replacement of the pickup coil and preamp while the meter is still on the line, which speeds up the maintenance process.
- Improved accuracy: Possibility of improving meter accuracy by positioning the stators at 45° to each other.
Certifications and compliance
- Hazardous area approvals: INMETRO / UL Brazil, UL / CUL (USA and Canada) and ATEX / IECEx (Europe and international)
- Metrological certifications: Inmetro/Dimel Ordinance No. 0142, dated July 1, 2013, Canadian NOA AV-2451, OIML R117-1 issued by PTB, MID 2014/32/EU and EAC of Russia
- Safety and pressure standards: DPE 2014/68/EU; must be manufactured at the Ellerbek plant, Germany
- Accessory Compatibility: PA-6, PA-IS-1, and AccuLERT Preamps
