Flux Provides Complete Natural Gas Conditioning System for GNA1 Project
The first combined cycle thermoelectric plant powered by liquefied natural gas (UTE GNA I) of the company Gás Natural Açu (GNA), a joint venture formed by Prumo Logística, BP and Siemens, will be one of the most efficient thermoelectric plants in Latin America. It is part of the first phase of the Açu Gas Hub, a project under development at the Açu-RJ Port Complex, to provide a logistical solution for receiving, processing, consuming and transporting natural gas from the Campos and Santos Basins, as well as to import and store liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Fluxo's scope in this grandiose undertaking is to supply the gas delivery point to the thermoelectric plant. The system is composed of several skids with the purpose of filtration, heating, pressure regulation and measurement of all the natural gas that will be processed in the GNA1 facilities.
For this supply, Fluxo brought together a complex set of high-tech equipment, manufactured to order, supplied with all on-board instrumentation and automation, which required a careful engineering project and adequate field knowledge. The last skids that were built for this project were shipped to the GNA1 facility in early November.
Designed to start operations in 2021, the GNA1 plant will consume around 7 million m³/day of LNG and will have a capacity of around 1.3 gigawatt (GW), enough energy to supply a city of up to 4 million inhabitants.
Natural gas will be the fuel for the operation of the entire processing plant and electricity generation. The project provides for the receipt of imported LNG gas and will be interconnected to the Route 3 pipeline network, which receives pre-salt gas from Comperj, where Fluxo will also supply the gas stations and the skids of the arm measurement modules charging station for C5+ and LPG.
