Fluxo provides natural gas conditioning and measurement system for the largest thermoelectric park in Latin America
Fluxo was the company selected to supply the entire natural gas measurement and conditioning system for the largest thermoelectric park in Latin America. This is Gás Natural Açu, a partnership formed between the companies Siemens, BP and Prumo Logística, in a project that consists of the construction of a LNG (liquefied natural gas) regasification terminal and two thermoelectric plants powered by natural gas in the first phase, with a total capacity of 3 GW.
The LNG regasification terminal is being built by the Spanish company Acciona, which selected Fluxo to supply the Natural Gas Fiscal Measurement Station at high pressure (111 bar). Regasification is carried out by a FSRU (floating storage regasification unit) vessel, moored at the pier at Porto do Açu.
Also at the pier, TechnipFMC will provide the loading arm for receiving natural gas.
The construction of the thermoelectric plant is the responsibility of the consortium formed by the companies Siemens and Andrade Gutierrez. The first thermal, with a 1.3 GW electrical generation capacity, will start operating in 2021. Alongside the Termica, Fluxo will provide the complete gas conditioning solution, with a filtering system, heating, pressure regulation, fiscal measurement and chromatography.
The fiscal metering stations for both projects will be supplied with Honeywell Elster's proven technology: Q.Sonic ultrasonic gas flowmeters; and with Encal 3000 model chromatographs.
With its own engineering, Fluxo designed the system to meet the needs of conditioning the gas for consumption in the thermoelectric turbines. The systems will all be modularized, manufactured by Fluxo using a skid assembly strategy, facilitating field assembly and reducing implementation risks.
