Petreco will manufacture its products in Brazil
The representative of Fluxo, the North American company Petreco International Inc, visualizing the potential of the oil and gas sector in Brazil in the next five years, decided that equipment in its line would be manufactured in the country. This decision meets the wishes of the Brazilian government and especially Petrobras, which in the last tenders stipulated high nationalization rates, thus privileging the national industry.
As an example of this, we can mention the public notices for the construction of Platforms P-51, P-52 and P-54. The P-54 Platform should start operating in the 2nd half of 2006, with a daily production of 180 thousand barrels and 6 million cubic meters of gas, considering the mandatory national content of 65 to 75% (depending on the packages) of the of the contract.
The Deputy Director of Fluxo in São Paulo and responsible for the Petreco account, Sylvio Fonseca, with professional experience in companies focused on the manufacture of heavy equipment for the oil/gas sector such as: Confab and Jaraguá, confirmed that Brazilian industries are largely qualified to manufacture this equipment.
“More complex equipment that meets the strictest quality standards required, among others, even for the nuclear area, has been manufactured in Brazil for over 15 years. Petreco's equipment, despite being complex, can be easily manufactured in Brazil, meeting the strictest specifications and standards such as ASME, API, TUV, ISO, IBQN, etc. The quality standards followed by Brazilian companies leave nothing to be desired for foreign companies”, says Fonseca.
Petreco International, headquartered in Houston-Texas and with subsidiaries in England and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is the world leader in the Oil, Gas and Water Separation and Treatment segment, both for onshore and offshore applications. In the Offshore area, Grupo Petreco has the technology to supply the entire “top side” of the platform, including, in this case, the process modules to be manufactured in Brazil.
In the refining area, Petreco has an expressive share in the world market with around 80% of Water/Oil Separators installed all over the world. Petreco International Inc, the successor to Baker Huges Process Systems, is formed by a group of leading companies in this sector. Companies such as Wemco, Vortoil, Metrol, Krebs, KCC and BFCC complement each other in order to offer the main equipment for Gas, Oil and Water Treatment Plants, regardless of their application: on land or at sea.
