Petrobras invests in measuring its Natural Gas

Fluxo and Emerson will supply ten in-line chromatographic analysis systems for Petrobras' northeast and southeast grids. The systems will allow the assessment of the quality and billing of natural gas, even at the metering stations.
The implementation of the new systems will make it possible to monitor the composition and quality online, as well as correct the volumes of natural gas sold by Petrobras G&E, in accordance with current legislation. The new criterion will reduce the uncertainties in these measurements. The supply also includes testing, assembly and system integration.

“The option for Fluxo and Emerson comes from the already consolidated partnership with Petrobras for the supply of goods and services. The chromatographic analysis system proposed by Emerson presented itself as the best technical and commercial option on the market, fully meeting the requirements of ANP/INMETRO and the standards and guidelines of Gas and Energy”, guarantees José Paulo C. Santana, Equipment Engineer Petrobras in the Gas and Energy Logistics Engineering.

Application of online chromatographic analysis systems:

Half of the systems will be destined for natural gas delivery points, locations contractually defined between the shipper and the distributor for fiscal measurement, where the shipper receives the gas from the carrier, according to Ordinance ANP-104. This system is called chromatographic analysis system for billing or simplified. With it it is possible to obtain the gas composition with the following characteristics: C1 @ C6, CO2, N2, compressibility factor, PCS, Wobbe index.

Another five in-line chromatographic analysis systems will be destined to the places where the shipper receives the gas from the producer and delivers it to the carrier, called reception points. In addition to checking the composition, required at delivery points, the quality of the gas must also comply with the ANP-104 ordinance and with the gas distribution contracts. This system is called a quality or complete chromatographic analysis system. In addition to obtaining the gas composition with the characteristics: C1 @ C6, CO2, N2, compressibility factor, PCS and Wobbe Index, the system also evaluates the water dew point and the sulfur content in the forms of H2S and Mercaptans .

Marcio Peçanha Gonçalves, Instrumentation Engineer at Consulpri, providing services to the Gas and Energy Logistics Engineering, is aware that the new systems will be audited by the quality and measurement management of the Gas and Energy area: “To guarantee our customers the quality, quantity and volumes of natural gas sold, Petrobras will carry out scheduled audits at the various points of reception and delivery of natural gas”, he confirms.
