The Petreco desalter, contracted by the Alberto Pasqualini Refinery S/A - Refap, in August 2005, landed at the Port of Santos at the end of July. The desalter is of the bi-electric type and will be transported by land to Canoas-RS, where Refap is located.
Weighing 75 tons, built in ASTM 516-Gr 70 steel and with gigantic dimensions (4.5m in diameter by 16m in length), the desalter will guarantee Refap oil treated with 0.3% BS&W (basic sediments and water) and maximum salt of 30 mg/l.
The equipment will process ten thousand m³ of oil daily, equivalent to one third of Refap's total capacity. Upon completion of its expansion plan, the refinery will increase its production capacity by almost 60%, starting to process 190,000 barrels of oil per day.
