Shell: real-time tank inventory
The Pool of Madre de Deus managed by Shell Brasil ltda - BMAD, started to control the inventory of its tanks in real time. In January of this year, the Tank Gauging division of Rosemount Tank Radar, formerly Saab, in partnership with Fluxo, delivered the tank telemetry system to Shell's Pool, which handles around 100 million liters of fuel per month.
The system comprises 16 radar level gauges for storage, from the Rex family, temperature tapes, local indicators, communication network and the TankMaster inventory control system.
In addition to real-time tank inventory control, the system also offers alarms, trend graphics, among others. Additionally, the OPC module allows Tankmaster communication with other industrial automation systems and even commercial packages such as Microsoft Office.
The success of this supply encouraged Shell to place a new order for twelve Rosemount meters for Shell's base in Manaus-AM. “We are certain that this will be another successful initiative. The inventory control of the tanks is already being carried out with excellent performance here in Madre de Deus, and this should happen in other terminals where the meters are installed”, says Ricardo Silva, in charge of operations at Shell de Madre de Deus.
Shell is a multinational that employs around 109,000 people and operates in more than 140 countries. He has been in Brazil for over 90 years. Among the businesses it develops in the country is the distribution of fuels through terminals.
