AGEO: automation for operational agility and safety
With a total investment of R$ 80 million in 2010, AGEO Terminais (Ilha Barnabé-SP) will expand its storage and logistics capacity and become one of the most automated liquid bulk storage terminals in Brazil.
The investments provided an increase in capacity in 330%, which will total 132 thousand m³ by July 2011 - 122 thousand m³ from February onwards - distributed in 81 tanks. The terminal's engineering department, which has always prioritized operational excellence and safety, was a pioneer in the implementation of wireless technology in level measurement. There are 65 radars manufactured by Rosemount Tank Radar, communicating through the Hart wireless standard that make up the tank telemetry system provided by Fluxo. Wireless technology was chosen because it combines measurement and monitoring reliability with low infrastructure installation costs. In addition, wireless provides a significant reduction in deployment time.
The terminal will also have 17 loading bays, with a total of 51 OPW manufacturing arms. The control system will be fully automated and Fluxo's supply comprises all field instrumentation: 17 electronic predeterminers (Daniel), 51 control valves (Fisher), 17 earthing and overfill monitors (Civacon) and 26 flow meters non-intrusive ultrasonic devices (Siemens). The pre-determiners are responsible for quantitative control, safety interlocking in the loading bay and interface with the operation. The ultrasonic meters were selected for the flexibility of use with different chemicals without compatibility issues and without the need for recalibration when changing the product in the bay.
The loading system will be fully interconnected to the operating room which, through a supervision system provided by the partner Automind, will allow the activation of each of the 81 tank pumps by each of the pre-determiners at the 51 loading points. This system comprises the supervision software, the PLCs mounted on panels to drive the pumps, the detailed design and integration services. The system will speed up the movement and loading of up to 400 trucks per day.
“With a focus on automation, AGEO now has one of the best-prepared private terminals for safe logistics operations, ensuring efficiency and protection for operators, the environment and the community.”- says J. Bergomas, engineering manager at AGEO Terminais. .
