Sustainability Leadership: FLUXO Provides Innovative URV for Royal FIC

Per Fábio André Alves

FLUXO was recently contracted by Royal FIC to supply a URV for its terminal in Paulínia/SP. Founded in 1996, Royal FIC is one of the largest fuel distributors in the country, with a strong presence in the market and a solid commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. This URV was designed to meet FIC's high quality standards, reinforcing its commitment to the environment and the community. After implementation, FIC will have a modern URV, in compliance with CETESB requirements, ensuring efficient control of atmospheric emissions during the movement of fuels.

How vapor recovery works

VOC vapors emitted during the movement of hydrocarbons in trucks, railcars, ships or storage tanks are captured and directed for recovery in the URV. The technology used in the URVs is based on a PSA cycle with adsorption on activated carbon and absorption in a column with an absorbent fluid loop. The carbon is regenerated using a vacuum pump, whose pioneering and innovative HORI technology is exclusive to FLUXO/JORDAN. HORI pumps have been used in Brazil for over 15 years, operating without any type of downtime for corrective maintenance.

Combining tradition, quality and technology, FLUXO has established itself as the preferred supplier of oil and derivatives terminals in Brazil.

Hegemony that has been strengthening for almost 20 years

In 2007, FLUXO was contracted to supply its first Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) for the abatement of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). This pioneering project involved the implementation of the VRU at the Henrique Lage Refinery (REVAP) terminal in São José dos Campos, which was later transferred to BR Distribuidora, now known as VIBRA.

Since then, FLUXO has supplied more than 30 URVs throughout Brazil, always under license from Jordan Technologies, a Cimarron Group company, a world leader in this technology. FLUXO and JORDAN have always demonstrated a commitment to environmental responsibility, carrying out detailed emissions studies and loading profiles to ensure precise sizing for the needs of each terminal. Authorized by Jordan to manufacture in Brazil, FLUXO also stands out for its care in following local standards, such as NR-10, NR-13 and INMETRO certification of equipment for use in explosive atmospheres.

With this new project for Royal FIC, FLUXO reaffirms its leadership in providing innovative environmental solutions, contributing to a more sustainable future in the energy sector.
