Delta Valve celebrates 20th anniversary of slide valve technology

Per Paloma Melo

Team DeltaValve recently hosted a worldwide event celebrating the 20thO anniversary of the Bottom Unheading Device (BUD). The live and virtual event was attended by current and past industry leaders from countless domestic and international refining companies. Several individuals from DeltaValve that were instrumental in the development of the technology and the process by which it was deployed into the market addressed the audience.

A group of key industry partners and subject matter experts spoke about the installation of the first prototype device, its immediate success, and how it then quickly became the global standard throughout the industry. It was a great opportunity for all those in attendance to connect with each other and feel part of DeltaValve and our global refining community. A limited-edition commemorative coin was created in honor of this milestone event and distributed to the attendees.

The BUD is a revolutionary large format (35 ton) slide gate valve technology that automated a previously manual process and has addressed significant safety and severe service challenges in the refining industry throughout the world. This valve technology has been adopted by over 110 refineries in 25 countries since its introduction in 2001. It has dramatically improved the safety, reliability, and profitability of delayed coking operations globally over the past two decades. DeltaValve thanks all those involved in the success of this technology which has delivered profound value to our worldwide refining industry.
